3 tools to advance your work (and help IAVE too!)

IAVE needs your help, and we think it can be a win-win

The 27th IAVE World Volunteer Conference is coming up fast, and the theme—PEOPLE POWER: CREATING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE THROUGH VOLUNTEERING—is something everyone can care about.

IAVE doesn’t have a huge marketing team to spread the word. But we do have you—members and supporters with networks that reach all over the world!

We put together a simple media kit for you below, and we would love if you would use it to promote your own work and the World Volunteer Conference. There are three parts:

  1. A press release. We are giving you two versions: one that is ready to send, and one that you can personalize to promote your organization and volunteer action.
  2. A slide template. We want to showcase your work at the conference. One way will be through a presentation showing how our members and conference participants are helping to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). You can download the slide template here. More information is below.
  3. Social media posts. Please follow us on Facebook or Instagram @iaveofficial, and LinkedIn and X @iave. Every share, comment or reaction helps news of the conference travel farther. We included some ideas below if you want to write your own posts.

A few months ago, the UN announced that 2026 would be the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development. We are on the forefront of a movement of volunteering for sustainability, and your voice matters. Speak up for a sustainable future through volunteering!

3 WAYS YOU CAN HELP

1.  Send this press release

We actually created two releases: a PDF that is ready to send, and a Word doc that you can modify to include your organization and volunteer action. Please send one of them to your mailing lists. You can:

  • Cut and paste the text into the body of an email
  • Include a PDF as an attachment
  • Print and mail the release
  • Take printed copies with you to meetings

If you have (or can find) contacts for local radio, TV or newspapers—or bloggers, YouTubers, podcasters, social media influencers—please send the release to them, too!

2.  Share pictures

If you are an IAVE member or attending the 27th IAVE World Volunteer Conference, we want to showcase your work! One opportunity will be a visual display showing how volunteers are addressing the Sustainable Development Goals. The images you submit will be turned into slides (like the one below) that will be shown at conference events as well as on our website and social media.

You can download the PowerPoint template here. Go to the slide that matches the SDG your organization is working on, add your organization’s name, a picture of your volunteering, and the location the picture was taken, and email the slide to Lowell at [email protected]. You can send up to three slides.

Or, if that seems too complcated, upload your pictures on this web form and we will create a slide for you!

3.  Post on social media

We know social media can be annoying, but it’s useful, too. Every time you share, comment or react to an IAVE post, it helps news of volunteering travel farther. Please go to our page on Facebook or Instagram at @iaveofficial, or LinkedIn and X at @iave and share a post about the World Volunteer Conference

Please also consider writing your own post about the 27th IAVE World Volunteer Conference! Include a link to the conference website at wvc2024busan.kr. And please tag #worldvolunteerconference, @iaveoffial and @vbusan so we can repost it!

Below are two posts you can use and modify. Click on the images to view and download them, or find a collection of images in Canva.
