IAVE 21st World Volunteer Conference Workshop 523: Strategic Volunteer Management: Discover the Steps in Engaging Today's Talent

IAVE IRC

Volunteers represent a human resource which in the past has been largely hidden and under-valued. However, over time, due recognition has been given to volunteering at all levels. To what extent are volunteer resources managed effectively? Are current systems and policies still relevant and applicable, given the rapid pace of change? As leaders, how do we address the strategic issues that impact the ways volunteer managers work with the vroad and diverse groups? What are the essential functional skills needed to build competency of volunteer managers?

Great methodologies for improving a volunteer programme can come from next door or half way around the world. Not all methodologies will work in all cultures; some will work while others will inspire an equally beneficial, culturally localised version. This workshop will give leading examples of how collective wisdom of an organization's volunteers can lead to higher participation, new ideas and better problem solving.
