IAVE 21st World Volunteer Conference Workshop 216: FedEx and the American Red Cross: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Volunteer Programmes
FedEx and the American Red Cross have worked together for nearly 20 years. A founding member of the Annual Disaster Giving Program, FedEx uses its powerful global transportation network to help Red Cross deliver lifesaving disaster relief materials across the US and recently to Haiti providing more than $1.2M annually of in-kind and finacial support. They align their efforts to support both the philanthropic strategy of FedEx and the mission of the Red Cross. Making local connections has helped expand FedEx volunteer engagement in innovative ways. This workshop will provide prcatical examples of year round engagement programmes are co-developed and managed including FedEx support for volunteer programmes such as Ready When the Time Comes and the unique Race to Prepare programme. FedEx will also provide other examples of ongoing employee volunteer engagement activities across the globe in support of organizations including Safe Kids Worldwide and Junior Achievement Worldwide.
