IAVE 21st World Volunteer Conference Forum 420: Volunteering Mega Trends: International Volunteering
Where cross-border volunteerism is concerned, we must understand that countries differ substantially in terms of culture, history, economy, and political context. With this disparity, international volunteerism calls for the need to be viewed and approached with unique strategies.
This session will cover the current challenges and emerging perspectives in international volunteerism. This forum gathers Simona Costanzo Sow, who will come from an International NGO perspective, Caroline Brassard, from a field research perspective and Joselito C. De Vera, from a governmental perspective - they will share about the increasing activity and new forms of partnerships developing in their regions of the world and explore through discussion the current trends and challenges in this field of volunteerism. The presentations and dialogues this forum highlights will provide a platform for informed discussion on the way forward for international volunteerism.
