A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM THE WORLD PRESIDENT
Dear Colleagues:
This issue of E-IAVE is coming to you a few days later than it should. But we wanted to be able to include as much information as possible about our plan for the 22nd IAVE World Volunteer Conference in December of 2012.
You will recall that our original plan was for a conference in Dublin, Ireland in September of this year. When, due to changes in the planned host organization there, that had to be cancelled, we began searching for feasible alternatives.
Now, we are pleased to announce that there will be a World Volunteer Conference this year. For the first time, we are undertaking a conference on our own, with no local host organization.
As you will see from the next story, it will be a different sot of IAVE conference. The primary focuses will be on corporate volunteering, on partnerships between businesses and NGOs, on Volunteer Centers and on our own IAVE leadership network of regional and national representatives.
As a result, it will be a smaller conference with a closely targeted participant group.
Many things are changing at IAVE. As you will see in articles on the following pages, we are taking a new approach to our secretariat, are coming to the end of our strategic planning process and will be submitting proposed by-laws changes to you, the membership, for your approval.
All of this is part of our effort to build on the momentum that we gained in IYV+10 and to move ahead with energy in helping to strengthen our global volunteer community.
Kang-Hyun Lee, Ph.D.
